Weaving Windows

Weaving Windows is a participatory circus show invested in community process.

The project was born in the frame of the European project BETA CIRCUS – Participatory Experience. The first time the artists visited the LEME Festival, they were struck by the sight of residents of the apartments neighboring the Casa da Cultura looking down from their balconies onto the festival site. In their distant participation they were both part of and apart from the audience.  The artists felt a strong curiosity to speak with these residents and to create a space for their stories to resonate in the square outside of the Casa da Cultura.

A group of weaving workers arrive at a public square with colorful industrial tubes that carry stories. With the participation of the audience, they will find a way to connect the stories that need to be told to the places that need to be tied, all in a language of humor and acrobatic skill. During the show, two buildings will be tied together, creating a new connection between separate structures.  The show is accompanied by a winding installation of tubes where pedestrians can listen to the stories throughout the day.
