About

Omer van Soldt (Studio Rasab) is an artist and theatre maker based in the Netherlands.

He began his creative career writing prose, gradually transitioning into film, with works screened at various festivals. His scenes often depicted intricate instruments and specific scenarios that demanded tailored contexts and scenographies. This eventually led him to step away from the camera and invite the audience directly into the world of his scenes.

At the same time, Omer began writing for the stage. From narrative-driven theatre to abstract visual compositions, he became increasingly engaged with the traditional frameworks of theatre-making. His current work seeks to stretch and subvert these conventional boundaries, playfully navigating and reshaping the structures of theatrical experience.

Across all media, Omer explores art as a form of communication—examining its potential to connect with an audience through a personal grammar and vocabulary. His work often reflects on the fragility and failure of language, addressing the complexities of (mis)communication in human interaction.

From site-adaptive performances to immersive kinetic installations, Omer’s practice moves fluidly between the stage, gallery spaces, festivals, and research-based environments.
